The projected $1.423 billion Powerball jackpot’s winning numbers were made public on Saturday night. With a Powerball of 19, they were 47, 54, 57, 60, and 65.
The jackpot reached $1.55 billion after Saturday’s drawing, which produced no winners. The current lottery reward ranks as the fourth-largest in Powerball history.
No one has won the Powerball grand prize since a single ticket purchased in Los Angeles on July 19 claimed a $1.08 billion payout. The drawing on Wednesday night was the 33rd since then.
According to Powerball organizers, this is the first time in the game’s history that two consecutive jackpots have exceeded $1 billion.
The $2.04 billion jackpot was the largest in Powerball and American lottery history, and it was won in November 2022 by a guy who was also from the Los Angeles region.
In Saturday’s drawing, a single winner would have the option of either a lump sum payout of approximately $614 million before taxes or an annuity that would consist of an initial payment and 29 recurring annual payments.
One in 292.2 million people have a chance of winning the jackpot.
Each Powerball ticket costs $2. They are offered for sale in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and 45 other states. At midnight Eastern, drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
Powerball and Mega Millions have both increased ticket prices and decreased the likelihood of winning the jackpot in recent years, which has increased the frequency of multibillion dollar lottery jackpots. The odds of winning the Powerball dropped from 1 in 175.2 million in 2015 to 1 in 292.2 million as of this writing, according to the Washington Post.
