A young man who signed up for a competition won an amazing house in Blackpool, UK, with a price tag of £350,000 ($446,700). However, the 18-year-old who lives with his mother and younger brother turned down the prize and said that he prefers to receive a smaller prize of £300,000 ($382,900) in cash instead.
The winner, George Radford, visited the six-bedroom property on Napier Avenue, South Shore. After seeing the house, the young man decided to take the money instead, saying that the property had too many rooms, as reported by The Gazette.
Radford explained: “It’s a lovely house but it’s just too big and there are too many rooms.” The 18-year-old man decided to try his luck in a competition by Elite Competitions. He entered a competition he liked several days after turning 18.
To Radford and his family’s surprise, he won the stunning house. Choosing the cash prize over the house, the young man explained that he currently works in a kitchen and also has a second job. But Radford’s dream is to work in IT.
The 18-year-old recently applied for a job with Blackpool Council. While he liked what he saw when visiting the six-bedroom property, the young man admitted that he plans to buy a smaller property. That would be either in Poulton or Hambleton. Still, the 18-year-old said that he isn’t in a rush but rather wants to continue working and developing in the IT vertical.
“My plan is to take the cash and buy a smaller house somewhere in Hambleton or Poulton but I’m not in any rush,“
said the lucky winner, George Radford
