The incident began when Jason McBrayer, 43, sat down next to a slot machine player at the casino. McBrayer then displayed a live snake.
Held the snake up and actually scared the person enough that they got up and left,” Master Sergeant/Public Information Officer Gary Knight at Oklahoma City Police Department told Oklahoma TV station KWTV this week.
An alleged robber was arrested this month for frightening a winner at Oklahoma’s Remington Park Casino with a snake and then stealing their jackpot, authorities said. The victim was so scared, he fled and did not take his ticket worth more than $400 from the slot machine, the report said.
McBrayer allegedly grabbed the ticket, got money at an ATM, and walked out of the gaming property.
The next day, he was spotted on 23rd Street in Oklahoma City. He allegedly was threatening people again with a snake.
In one instance, McBrayer threatened an employee at a convenience store, where he lunged the snake at her, police said.
He also threatened customers in the store with the same snake, witnesses revealed to police.
Decapitates Snake
“During the disturbance, he [also] takes a knife and cuts off the head of the snake and throws the snake away,” Knight revealed.
McBrayer fled when police arrived at the store. Officers apprehended him at a nearby bank.
McBrayer was arrested for robbery by force or fear and animal cruelty, police said.
You don’t see a snake or even an animal for that matter used as a weapon in a robbery very often,” Knight added to KWTV. “It’s something we rarely see.”
The suspect allegedly used a pocketknife to decapitate the snake.
No word on what kind of snake he used in the plot. Nor was it clear if the snake was poisonous.
No one was believed to have been bitten by the reptile.
