A Houston resident has ended up winning a $5-million jackpot after buying a scratch-off ticket at a convenience store in Uptown, the Texas Lottery announced on Wednesday, November 4.

The winning ticket came from a game called $5 Million Titanium Black, where the tickets cost $100 to play, and the prize starts at $150, making it one of the largest and most ambitious lottery games out there.
The Texas Lottery argues that the odds of winning any prize in the game are 25% higher than other products, with $5 Million Titanium Black already having paid out more than $448.6 million in winnings.
As to the ticket, it was bought from a Super K convenience store on San Felipe Street in Uptown, with the winner already claiming the prize. The retailer is also going to get $10,000 from selling the winning ticket, while the winner himself has preferred to remain anonymous, as permitted under local laws.
Gury Rudey, the manager at the store, was the one to share his joy from seeing his shop sell the seven-prize jackpot, with Rudey hinting that his shop has been the site of big jackpots in the past.
“I was actually hoping for somebody to big win the last couple of years. And I’m glad someone from here and someone I knew won the jackpot,” the manager said. Rudey, though, also knows who the lucky winner is, as he saw him scratch the ticket in his car and come back to shake the manager’s hand with the words “Thank you for the big winner.”
However, Rudey had little idea how big the “big winner” actually was until a few days later when the prize was announced. As for Rudey, he is happy to see others win; he told the Texas Lottery.
