IWG Introduces Its eInstant Progressive Jackpot in Pennsylvania and Virginia
The Mega Money Jackpots has launched in both Pennsylvania and Virginia and the progressive jackpot can be accessed through games offered by the state’s lotteries. This is the first time an eInstant progressive jackpot game has been released as well.
Boosting the Lottery Offer in Pennsylvania and Virginia
Players in both states will stand to benefit from multi-million dollar prizes designed to boost engagement and offer participants new opportunities to experience lottery products. The product will not stop here, though as IWG is keen to keep adding more state lotteries, beyond Pennsylvania and Virginia, and grow the prize pool and how many people it’s available to.
To ensure that the product operates as intended, IWG is deploying its own InstantRGS, a remote game server solution that facilitates the game’s operations and requires no further investment on behalf of partner lotteries that are hosting the game.
IWG CEO Rhydian Fisher has welcomed this new opportunity to deliver a progressive jackpot based on eInstant games to Virginia and Pennsylvania. He argued that pooling players from both states would provide players of Mega Money Jackpots with even better opportunities to win big.
“Congratulations to both lotteries for pioneering this next chapter in eInstant games,” Fisher said.
A Chance to Continue Innovating the Lottery Offer
The news was naturally welcomed by representatives of both lotteries. PA Lottery Deputy Executive director for marketing and products Stephanie Weyant added to the conversation and said that the lottery was excited to see Mega Money Jackpots integrated with the local players, offering great benefits to them.
Strategic games manager for Virginia Lottery, Scott Kenyon, was of a similar opinion. Kenyon said that the lottery was excited to be collaborating with IWG to champion even more online innovations. The multi-state partnership is a clear indicator of the ongoing efforts, he added.
“We believe Mega Money Jackpots will be enthusiastically received by our players all while supporting the Virginia Lottery’s mission to raise revenue for K-12 public education,” Kenyon wrapped up.
Previously, IWG introduced an eDraw game for the Virginian lottery and it similarly launched other products and services in Kentucky.

Play Synergy to Acquire Aruze Gaming Slot Machine Business
Empire Technological Group, which does business as Play Synergy, announced today that it is acquiring the US slot machine operations of Aruze Gaming.
In February, Aruze filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the State of Nevada. Last week, the company announced it is shuttering its Las Vegas office, laying off 100 workers as part of that process.
Financial terms of the Play Synergy purchase weren’t disclosed. Pending court and regulatory approvals, Play Synergy said the transaction could be finalized within the next 30 days. Aruze is the maker of the Rock Paper Scissors Instant Win slot machines, among other electronic gaming machines.
The company’s lone shareholder is Japanese businessman Kazuo Okada and its US clients include brick-and-mortar and internet casino operators.
With acquisition, Play Synergy is assuming “responsibility for, the related sales, service, support, and operations of Aruze’s slot route and operations.”
Play Synergy May Save Some Aruze Las Vegas Jobs
As noted above, Aruze announced last week that it plans to eliminate 100 jobs at its Las Vegas headquarters, but it’s possible some of those roles may be saved.
Aruze, Play Synergy, and all other stakeholders in the process have worked exceptionally well together to provide the vast majority of Aruze team members with new employment opportunities,” said Play Synergy President Frank Feng in the statement. “This along with interest from others in the industry has had the result of minimizing the disruption to those impacted and their families.”
Play Synergy didn’t mention how many of those 100 jobs, if any, could be saved. The buyer of the Aruze US slot operations also highlighted a commitment to the seller’s customers, noting it expects a smooth transition.
“Play Synergy understands that this process can be unsettling to Aruze’s current customer base and wants to reassure each of them that our team, including those that will be joining us from Aruze, are committed to a smooth transition along with a focus on excellence in customer service,” according to the statement.
Play Synergy Story
Play Synergy has three primary divisions – slot machines, table games and technology. The company’s gaming machines include the Lucky and Penny series of slots as well as electronic keno and poker offerings. It’s table games include variations of baccarat, blackjack and poker.
“We started in the table game business and have developed a collection of market-proven winners, including our flagship table game Golden Frog Baccarat,” according to the company.
Play Synergy’s SMRT Choice table game technology provides casino operators with live player analytics and can be customized across various iterations of baccarat, blackjack and poker.

Powerball Climbs to Third-Largest Jackpot in Game History
The Powerball jackpot for this weekend’s drawing is an estimated $875 million, the game’s third-richest prize ever offered.
After no ticket matched the six winning numbers on Wednesday night, the Powerball jackpot rolled over for a 36th consecutive time. Officials with the Multi-State Lottery Association, which operates Powerball on behalf of its 48 participating jurisdictions, are forecasting a rush of play between the drawings.
The $875 million prize for Saturday’s drawing includes a cash value of an estimated $441.9 million. The cash prize for Wednesday’s drawing was $367.9 million, meaning Powerball officials expect sales between Wednesday through Saturday evening to be north of $100 million.
About 68 cents of every $2 Powerball play goes towards the cash-sum jackpot. The advertised jackpot is for the 30-year annuity, which is dependent on the Federal Reserve’s benchmark interest rate.
Powerball and Mega Millions pay out their annuity jackpots through bonds insured by the US Treasury. The interest rates on those bonds are based on the federal interest rate. And that’s why as interest rates have increased over the past year, annuitized lottery jackpots have escalated quicker than they otherwise would.
Another Top-10 Jackpot
Saturday night’s Powerball jackpot is not only the third-largest Powerball annuitized jackpot, but also one of the 10 largest lottery prizes ever offered in US history. At $875 million, the jackpot already ranks seventh in U.S. lottery history.
To claim a top-five spot, the jackpot will need to swell to more than $1.33 billion, which was the Mega Millions jackpot hit on July 29, 2022. Powerball holds the top two spots with jackpots of $2.04 billion won on Nov. 7, 2022, and a $1.58 billion prize won on Jan. 13, 2016.
Each ticket’s chances of winning the Powerball jackpot are just one in 292.2 million. The overall odds of winning some sort of prize are one in 24.9.
During Wednesday’s drawing, while no one won the jackpot, more than 1.8 million tickets won lower-tier prizes worth a combined $16.5 million.
The July 12 drawing included two tickets, sold in Florida and Indiana, that matched all five white numbers, but not the red Powerball to claim the game’s second-best prize of $1 million.
Another 36 tickets matched four of the five white balls and the red Powerball for $50,000 prizes. Of those winners, 26 of the tickets purchased the $1 add-on Power Play option that tripled their prize to $150K after the Power Play landed on 3x.
Mega Millions Tops Half-Billion
Powerball isn’t the only lottery game growing its jackpot. Mega Millions is also on a run, with the game’s prize climbing to $560 million.
Mega Millions will next be drawn Friday night at 11 p.m. EST. Mega Millions officials say it’s only the seventh time in the game’s 21-year history that the jackpot has climbed upwards of $550 million.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are even worse than Powerball at about one in 302.5 million.
