Palms Casino Resort, an off-Strip property in Las Vegas, has introduced a player-friendly change to its blackjacktables, contrary to the popular trends. The change was enacted on Valentine’s Day and is in line with the property’s commitment to delivering best-in-class experiences to its players.
Palms Refused to Follow the Strip Trends
Palms Casino now pays 3:2 on all blackjack tables, a change that started on February 14. This applies to tables on the main casino floor and in high-limit areas.
Before this, payouts varied. Some tables offered 3:2, but many paid 6:5. In 3:2 games, you win $3 for every $2 bet when you get a blackjack (two cards totaling 21). In 6:5 games, you win $6 for every $5 bet. The difference matters, especially in high-limit games.
The 6:5 payout favors casinos and has become common in Las Vegas. Palms’ switch to 3:2 shows it’s taking a player-friendly approach.
This change also makes all Palms’ blackjack tables consistent, so players can bet with confidence. Plus, the casino won’t raise table minimums despite the better payouts. It offers $5 blackjack for casual players and tables for high-rollers.
**Why This Matters**
Scott Hager, Palms’ vice president of gaming, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that switching to 3:2 reflects Palms’ commitment to the best gaming experience for guests and loyal locals.
“We’re enhancing our blackjack offerings to provide top-tier table games and an exceptional experience for everyone,” Hager said.
John Mehaffey, co-owner of VegasAdvantage.com, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that player-friendly changes like this could pay off. Lower payouts, like 6:5, can push players away, while better payouts attract more customers, potentially boosting profits for the casino.
Speaking of Palms Casino Resort, last year, the property scooped up the Strat’s former general manager, Stephen Thayer, as its new general manager.
