Powerball Awards $1M to Lucky Player in Maryland, Jackpot Reaches $607M

The Powerball jackpot has remained unclaimed once again after no one matched all six numbers to win the top prize last Saturday. This isn’t to say that the drawing was uneventful, though, as it saw a player in Maryland win a Match 5 prize, while two dozen players scooped up tier-three sums.

MD Player Wins $1M, Jackpot Exceeds $600M

Despite initial estimates putting the Saturday jackpot at $600 million, the actual sum lottery fans ended up playing for was $586 million, with a cash option of $247 million. As mentioned, no one succeeded in achieving such a win, but multiple small wins happened.

The most notable win for the Saturday drawing was a $1 million payout in Maryland, where a lucky ticket-holder matched all five white winning numbers but not the Powerball. For reference, the winning numbers drawn on October 17 were 12, 13, 24, 32, and 35. The Powerball was 11 and the Power Play multiplier was 3x.

In addition to the seven-figure windfall in Maryland, two dozen players matched four white numbers plus the Powerball to win tier-three sums. Of these, 21 won $50,000 each, while the remaining three won $150,000 each thanks to the Power Play feature.

Since the jackpot has not been won, it has continued to grow. Current estimates put the game’s top prize at $607 million with a cash value of $255.7 million. Players will get another chance to win this mouth-watering sum later today, October 19, when the next drawing is set to take place.

Powerball Creates Even More Millionaires

Powerball has been enjoying strong activity and, in return, players have often been scoring seven-figure Match 5 wins. Before the recent win in Maryland, one player in Minnesota not only matched all five white numbers, but did so while having the Power Play feature active, resulting in a Match 5 + Power Play prize of $2 million.

Players in the United States are not the only ones who have been winning big either. Ever since Allwyn launched the game in the UK, allowing Britons to compete for the same jackpot as their American peers, several Match 5 prizes have been won there. The most recent one was a $1 million payout that came from the October 12 drawing.
