DUNN – of Dunn believed she had won big on her $2 lottery ticket, but her heart-stopping moment came when she realized it was a $113,715 Fast Play jackpot when she arrived in Raleigh to claim her award.
Adeogun, a 47-year-old nurse from Dunn, purchased her 10X The Cash ticket at the Food Lion on East Cumberland Street on Thursday. She claimed the cashier informed her she needed to go to lottery headquarters to claim her reward, so she got in her car and drove to Raleigh, unsure of the value of her ticket.
“I was thinking around $600 or $700,” Adeogun remarked.
Adeogun learned she had won a $113,715 prize when she arrived at lottery headquarters.
She said, “My heart just stopped.” “I’m just thankful.”
Adeogun collected her prize on Thursday and received $80,750 after withholdings for state and federal taxes. She stated that she intends to utilize the funds to pay off certain debts.
